Oktoberfest comes to Arrowhead in September

Published: Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 1:57 p.m. CST

WHEATON – Soon, residents will be able to toast steins, scarf sausages and pick pretzels at Arrowhead's Oktoberfest celebration from Sept. 21 to Oct. 6, according to a Wheaton Park District news release.

Chef Alan Pirhofer, a second generation Austrian, will prepare a number of German dishes during the celebration, including potato pancakes, spatzle, sauerkraut, schnitzel and sausages from the Paulina Market in Chicago.

The festival will begin with a traditional Oktoberfest firkin, which is a small keg of craft beer tapped with a special hammer. This year's firkin will be filled with Oktoberface beer by Solemn Oath Brewery in Naperville.

Live music will be provided by Paul Willaert on Sept. 20 and Sean Skyler on Sept. 21.

Arrowhead is located in 26W151 Butterfield Road in Wheaton. For more information on Arrowhead's Oktoberfest and other events, visit arrowheadgolfclub.org
